FRANK GRIMALDI

"My songwriting is inspired by my personal life; it's one of the ways I work things out for myself" says Frank Grimaldi.  Grimaldi's brand of retrospective pop music, which is never brooding but sometimes comically self-deprecating can be heard on his 1996 debut CD "Walking Backward" and his current CD "Balance."

Born in Brooklyn to Italian-American parents, Grimaldi replies to the age question by coyly stating he is exactly one year older than Madonna. Providing, of course, she is truthful about which year she was born.

As a student of City College's Music Program, Frank Grimaldi began songwriting for the first time only to leave his studies behind. About this time in his life, Frank states "College was a very hard time for me. In retrospect, I realize that I wanted to be a songwriter but couldn't express myself because I hadn't come to terms with being a gay male."

After a few stops and starts, Frank Grimaldi returned to music in the early 90's. First by singing to pre-recorded music that he wrote in his home studio and later by working with various musicians. Frank says about performing " I didn't have confidence as a performer until I appeared in Amateur Night At The Apollo. Against the producer's advice, I performed an original song. I was scared shit! - But
the audience stayed with me and I never saw the sandman."

Frank loves performing and captivates his audience with his unique baritone vocals. He says "creating music is something I have to do to keep myself feeling alive." Whether it is R&B or Modern Rock, Frank Grimaldi's brand of pop music is one worth hearing. Frank is  currently performing as a solo artist promoting his newest CD "Balance."   Balance was produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer Barry Goldstein and Frank Grimaldi.
